I have to admit that I didn't catch the clue at all... that was just a guess. What does the guy at the gates have to do with Tilapia?

I'm going to have to think a bit to come up with the next quiz... more in a bit.

Tilapia is also known as "St Peter's Fish" from the Bible story of St Peter catching a fish with a shekel in its mouth. I consider this an appropriate fish for Good Friday.

I'm considering either filleting it or sticking on the barbie. May have it with gnocchi or a mushroom risotto.

I am inspired by St. Peter's fish. I may have to stop and get some on the way home. :)

Okay... next quiz. I've been unable to devise something clever, so instead you get this:

CellarTracker tells me that I currently own 189 bottles of Port. Given that total, it seems to me that I own a rather large number of different Ports. Or maybe not... it's entirely possible that I don't know what a normal ratio of "different" to "total" should be. So according to CellarTracker, how many different Ports do I own?

Note: the answer is fixed as of this post, and is not subject to change based on tonight's (or this weekend's) Port consumption.

So I guess four cases, and the others split equally between singles, doubles, and quadruples.
• Four cases = 48 bottles, leaving 141 unexplained.
• 1+2+4 = 7, and 141/7 = 20 of each + a spare single.
Therefore I guess sixty-five.

Please reveal higher or lower.

mmm id say you'd probably have 16 different houses
amongst 189 bottles of port.

Out of which I know 3 of them are Fonseca 1970s.
186.
at least 2 of each are probably Kopke 10,20, 30 Tawny
180.
I believe you also mentioning a Fonseca 78 somewhere in your possessions
179.
along with a few fonseca 85s- because everyone should have one
167
due to my notes on the taylor lbv, I'd guess you have a 5 pack left of the 03 lbv.
162.

In terms of different bottles of port, you seem to buy in 3 packs, assuming 1 drunk per month.
i'd randomly hazard a guess at 54 different bottles.

Higher to both. I am impressed by the logic applied, and how remarkably accurate both are despite significant errors in assumptions.

I hadn't counted that, but as it turns out the correct number is 23.

knowing the 3pack buying tendencies of Glenn,

We shall have to say there are at minimum of 69 different bottles.

After accounting for drinking habits and occasional one offs.

I'd say 74 in cellar
with 2 open bottles of which one is a tawny.

Both too high. Note that my "daily drinkers" never make it into CellarTracker, and so are not accounted for in this quiz.

You're not paying attention to the clues. Go back to Julian's guess (with made up workings to make it look like it wasn't a guess) and read on from there. Then wait until someone else guesses before guessing again within the available range

69 is still too high. 48 is, as Derek pointed out, already known to be wrong.

Oops

I meant 68, obviously, but will happily accept elimination from the contest for guessing that Glenn has more different wines than he has bottles :?
