A creapy story
Two days ago, we found this little friend in our garden:
It's a camel spider (which is not actually a spider, but part of the same family as scorpions). Apparently they are not poisenous, but they can do quite a bit of harm with their jaws. Which, as you can see, are a major part of the little bugger (the total size of the animal was about 10cm).
Now, finding this animal wasn't too bad. We killed it, and that was that. But there is a tail to the story, literally.
Another, more frequent, guest in our garden is "Sneaky". She's a stray cat, and we call her Sneaky, because she always finds a way to sneak back into our garden, after we told her off. A couple of days ago I noticed that she lost her tail. Weird. I wondered how this could have happened. A fight with another stray cat? Run over by a car? And then yesterday, LadyR found the tail in our garden. Close to the place where we found the camel spider. We can't proof it, of course, but it seems very likely that Sneaky got into a fight with Mr. Jaws and he bit her tail off. Ouch.

Re: A creapy story
Good, that I am not in Oman. After such a story I would definitely not run around naked in the garden and have my tail cut off by some weirdo animal.

After reading all of these comments together I am starting to understand why you killed it

How did you cook the tail? And you served it with a small glass of tawny port, presumably.

Roasted, with a camel spider stuffing, presumably?jdaw1 wrote:How did you cook the tail? And you served it with a small glass of tawny port, presumably.

Sounds delicious, though I’d have stuffed the tail into the camel spider.

And what are you going to to with the camel spider tail? Throw it away? That's a waste, it's very nutricious!g-man wrote:cut the claws off, fry themjdaw1 wrote:Sounds delicious, though I’d have stuffed the tail into the camel spider.

The cat's tail was sun dried and eaten straight of the bone. Wonderful with a port-tonic.
