Port and the Ashes
Port and the Ashes
Anyone else enjoying the fact Sky have lost their monopoly?

No, the opposite here. While competition is generally better than a monopoly, the current consequence is that my wife (the sports fan) now wants us to pay for both BT Sport and Sky Sports because they now have half-each of the wanted events, doubling the costs - since the loss of the monopoly does not as yet seem to have reduced the cost of Sky Sports, and BT Sport charge just as much as well.

I get BT Sport included with my Virgin Media subscription so it feels ‘free’!

Re: Port and the Ashes
I tuned in on Wednesday night to watch the opening overs only to find it wasn't on Sky. Luckily I hadn't had enough to drink to persuade me to instantly upgrade to include BT Sport so I am going to have to give this series a miss.

Re: Port and the Ashes
I hadn’t realised that the Ashes were on BT Sport. Since I am a BT Broadband customer on an old contract, I get BT Sports thrown in with my line rental.
I had a very happy couple of hours last night watching cricket while finishing off a bottle of Taylor 1997.

I am very annoyed about it having upgraded my Sky package only to find it is on BT Sport....I am resisting the extra payment but not sure how long I can hold out...I love watching cricket from down under and by two tests in I usually feel quite 'jet lagged' without leaving my lounge.

Re: Port and the Ashes
I'm feeling distinctly less grumpy abut cricket this morning. But perhaps I shouldn't be. We're still 135 runs behind and only have 18 wickets left before defeat.
