Sorry, Mum.
I'm being good.
This thread is to keep track of the married-style squabbling. Self-reporting is encouraged.

Derek does actually love me. I know that. I have to remember that. I have to believe that.

That is something that hasn't happened for quite some time. I must open a bottle of port to celebrate. Would Dow 1970' suffice?
Nonsense, I'm always agreeing with you. It's Derek who gets my goat.

I hate you. You always know which buttons to push to make me forgive you.

Would that be the "shall we have undercooked red meat" button? We all know that's the one to press if any of us need forgiveness from you.

Not when it comes to goat. Melt-in-the-mouth over-cooking preferred to leathery toughness.

Like Daniel, sometimes you just don't understand me.

I fold.

I regret starting this thread. It was meant to shame them into not squabbling in public; instead, like some old married couple, they delight in it.

I suspect Daniel is simply trying to join the toffee-nose bandwagon of popular culture.

Derek, as I don't fill my existence with the titbits of irrelevant daily life, I missed this attempt by a public figure to enrich the language as it is spoke. I'm at a bit of a loss as to the Port Forum's inability to comprehend metaphor. If I had used a cliché – perhaps something like 'great unwashed' – to refer to the non-initiates to the virtues of port, no doubt you'd all have managed to get my meaning, without needing to check whether the flannels in the family bathroom had lately been used. But I embark on a new metaphor and you have them all taking their shoes and socks off to check for hooves. I see now that this is the leaden discourse we can expect on TPF. Literalism or death.

I think this thread has brought us even closer together.

Julain - now that you have mastered the art of life coaching perhaps you should consider relationship counseling?

We should probably stop short of naming the tasting "Bring out your dead".
Probably a good idea if we're inviting guests who currently own the brand.
I'm glad you like yet another of my good ideas.
Yes yes. I like all your ideas. We discussed this last night. Now do the washing up.
Now you all see what I have to put up with.

It's like being asked round to dinner by the divorced couple who can't afford to move out. But he's got a sharp tongue on him has that Daniel!
