We have had a few new members recently and it would be interesting to know how you found the website. Google? A link from another site? A referral from a friend? etc.

All internet, probably google, but i think the site is linked on wikipedia too. I'd actually bookmarked it months and months ago, but waited til recently to join.

Can`t remember. I`ve been surfing the internet for hours and hours, looking for anything about Port.... and bingo, then i found the port forum. And I going to tell my port friends about this site :)
Any time not spend drinking port, is a waste of time.

I don't deride the Cruz '89. When I served it blind to someone who shall remain nameless but does deride it - he said it reminded him of Fonseca in a lesser year.

I think it's a perfectly good everyday house port.

I also think we need to try and introduce you to Morgan '91...
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Coming back to the remaining half bottle this evening I am actually enjoying it more. A little smoother perhaps?

No experience of the Morgan '91 but the numerous TN's sound interesting.

When AHB ambushed us with a bottle at the Crusting Pipe there were some nice comments made about it. I found it odd on that occasion but not as deeply unpleasant as the first time that I tried it. I may have had a bad bottle first time: it was so bad that it went down the sink.

If it was me that likened it to a poor vintage Fonseca then I was probably trying to articulate something. AHB may remember that I refused to hazard a guess at the bottle. It is certainly not as bad as my first impression but I can find other things to spend my £11 on that I would rather drink: Noval LBV at Tesco.

As I sit here, drinking a pleasant Chianti (£5 from Morrison's), I can promise that I am not a wine snob. I don't like some wines, regardless of price or reputation, and do like others. C'est la vie.

The Noval LBV from Tesco fell into my trolley on Friday night. It was a toss up between that and the Cruz 1989 last night. I know what is next to open then!

I have to admit that I hadn’t heard of the Morgan 1991 before, but the TNs do make it sound interesting… Wine-Searcher only pulls up the 77, 70 and 48, though…

:shock: I always assumed that no matter how bad a port is, it will always end up improving a sauce. At least that’s how I justified the M&S Pink Pork :FFCCCC:

Hence my belief that I'd had a bad bottle: it was too rank to put in a chilli.
