Hello everybody.

Post by Old Bridge »

Hello everybody.
I’m an old norwegian man who have been interrested in port since the 70’s. Lived in Belfast 70-79, and did enjoy many a glass of port there. (also drink whisk(e)y and sherry). My cellar is small, with VP from 1970, 1983, 1985, 1995, 2003 and 2011(but those are for those that come after me). I have some LBVs and some 20yo tawney.
The selection at the norwegian state shop is fairly good I feel, and I buy most of my alcoholic beverages there. However The Loop at Dublin airport has provided some bottles.
I have been reading the forum here for a while, and when Pork pies from Belfast were mentioned, I decided to join. Any forum so eclectic must have a high ceiling and be good.

Hello and welcome to :tpf:

Some of us met the importer who supplies Port to the Norwegian state monopoly when visiting the Douro earlier this year and it certainly seems to be buoyant and growing market.

You will certainly find an eclectic mix of interests and discussions here 88)

Thank you for the welcome DRT.
After having read some of one quiz at the time, eclectic is not adequate.

I think there are a number of firms that supply the statemonopoly with port, but I am not connected to any of them so I do not know.

On behalf of the :tpf: collective I am going to accept that as a compliment

One Quiz at a Time (our most active thread) has been sadly neglected recently. Please feel free to seize ancient powers and post a question to get things going again

Welcome to the Port Forum, and thank you for deciding we are eclectic enough - we do our best in trying.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I seem to have some problem with the website at the moment. The rollerblinds are opening without prompting, and when I close one, another opens.
Is there a setting that I have upset?
Are gremlins/leprechauns at work?
Please send help.
