Just dropping in from the other side of the pond

Post by foomench »

Some of you may know me from one of those other Port web sites under my real name Eric Menchen. I've read some of the threads here going a long way back, but can't keep up with one board, let alone two or more (other hobbies too, like making beer). But Julian alerted me to a tasting I was interested in, so I signed up and submitted a comment on that thread. I'm waiting for some sort of approval process for that to go through, and to update my avatar.

Short story: I have liked dessert wines for just about as long as I can remember, went to Porto in 2008, and have been hooked ever since. I have a few bottles in the cellar now, and will post a photo or two when I can. And I just made my first return to the Douro last month on a great tour with Roy.

Thanks!

Yeah yeah, size doesn't matter. And I know some of you with many more bottles. But I have to share this anyway. And it shows one of my other passions.

Left wall is Port, shelves have a variety, but mostly Port, and the half bottle rack is a good mix. (A good mix being mostly Port with some Sauternes and other things thrown in.)

This is looking in the opposite direction, so the right wall is Port, with a mix of mags on top. And in the middle, away, is the colder zone for beer, and a few bottles of white at the ready.

And this is the other side of the beer wall.

Hi Eric, Welcome to the "other" forum (I think many/most of us on here are over there also).
Already signing up for tastings too, good sign and plenty of notice ;)

Eric: I have added you to the group Placemat makers.

Also, please consider subscribing to the thread Software that makes placemats: questions asked there about future development are aimed as much at you as anybody else. Thank you.
