SMWS bottling no. 29.157, previously tasted at the Scottish Independence Referendum Online, this is a 17-year-old Laphroaig aged in an ex-sherry butt and bottled at 59%.

Delicious. Not over-peaty like so many Islays, just earthy and smokey with a real suggestion of cured ham. It has some sweetness and it's very rounded, a herby note rises late in the finish. This is fantastic stuff.

No bottles remain of the 675 that were bottled.
