Dark & Smooth.
Dark & Smooth.
Well I never. Have you heard of a Dark & Smooth. Its Guiness and Port mixed. Never tried it, but like both ingredients...A Lot!
Just in case you think I'm making it all up when I'm 'Tired and Emotional',
Have a Gander
May try this one at the Club later.

I tried two of these after 6 regular Guiness. Very nice. It was Taylors LBV 2001 and you can taste the Port through the Guiness. I was sat with a dozen friends and everyone had a sip. Only one didn't like it, and the word that kept popping up as everyone tasted it, was...Smooth.
The only downside was I couldn't carry on drinking Guiness after that, so I had a few Southamptons to finish the night off.

Ugh... Alan, this sound horrendous. I just can't see how mixing one magnificent drink with another magnificent drink from a completely different family of spirits can lead to anything but disappointment.
However, in the name of science, I will promptly make a trip to the local beer store and purchase a four-pack of Guinness cans, at least part of one will be mixed with port. I';m expecting the worst and hoping for the best… or at least not to barf it all back up.

What, and waste good port?! No fear. I will leave the dark and smooths to those more suited to it than me.
But now you mention it, was there any Guinness in sight when you were necking that 1963 Fonseca?
