2006 St Henri Shiraz

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

100% Shiraz from grapes bought from long standing grape suppliers to Penfolds; unoaked. From magnum. Deep red, opaque centre, no purple. Lovely complex nose, full of fruit and carnation flowers. Soft on the palate with generous black cherries and powerful acidity. The tannins are well integrated but still obvious. They show strongly on the aftertaste with a black cherry and green salad finish. Lovely, and with plenty of life ahead of it. 88/100. Drunk 27-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
