2011 Magill Estate

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

100% Shiraz from grapes grown on the remaining original land bought by Dr Penfold. Deep red and 95% opaque. Firm in tone but with no purple. Floral and fragrant nose with lots of deep purple cornflowers and raspberries. Poised and balanced entry, soft and restrained. High in acidty gives a thin feel to the texture. Hints of tannins and oak but the fruit is somewhat light. Raspberries show on the aftertaste and oaky finish. 85/100. Drunk 27-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
