2009 Meerlust Rubicon

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Stellenbosch. Deep red and opaque. Modest nose showing typical Cab Sauv cedar - lovely and worth sniffing for some time before sipping the wine. Wonderful palate, balanced and refined yet intensely flavoursome. Delightful smokey fruit and goegeous cedar wood tannins lead to a very long finish. A great wine, good to see Rubicon back on form. 95/100. Drunk 25-Mar-2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
