Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

2012 Altano Quinta do Ataide Reserva

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Matured in 400 litre american oak barrels. Deep red with a maroon rim, looking rich and velvety. Restrained on the nose with a touch of fruit and dark chocolate; hinting at depth and arrogance. Light and acidic entry but some lovely floral perfume components showing on the mid-palate and give a complexity missing in the odler wines. Perfect tannins, supportive but not distracting. A nice finish, although a little dominated by light and dry cocoa and sour cherry. 85/100. Drunk 24-Feb-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
