Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

1985 Hermitage from Guigal

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, dark and brooding, 90% opaque. Hollow on the nose but with a touch of red fruit. Smooth entry, dark fruit with black chocolate tannins at first but a powerful and g=fragrant fruit on the late palate. Good acidity balances the aftertaste before a long and delicious fruit driven finish. The tannins are firm but well in balance and support a great length. Complex flavour profile, served blind this was guessed first to be a Shiraz, but the complexity led this to be guessed as Marie Therese 2004 from Crasto. 92/100. Drunk 10-Apr-15 as part of the Doty Cup.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
