2001 Château Chasse-Spleen

Post by AW77 »

D+0h: not much deposit in the tea filter I always use nor in the bottle, cork breaks after one-third, smells of raspberry , D+2h: purple red, on the rim a little cherry red, smells of cherry (after more time in the decanter of blackberry) and of eucalyptus, nice mouth, full bodied, but without being heavy or jammy, there is also a nice acidity that makes this wine elegant and "light-footed", in the mouth blackberry (a little bit earlier it was cherry) and a little bit of raspberry (?), in the aftertaste blackberry and some raspberry, good length (30 sec), good claret, having had the 2000 CS two times last year I don't see that much difference between these two vintages, I think I will buy the 01 again.

Civilised supermarket again, I suppose. What was the price point?

That's a very civilised price indeed.

EDIT - if they still have any left next month I might send you an email...

I think they have the CS on the shelf on a regular basis. It seems to be a kind of slow seller there (but then there are around 30 other clarets claiming attention).
