1966 Chateau Talbot

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, mature but with hints of mahogany. An attractive nose of straw and pine dust resin; big and powerful, morphing into tar and mineral dust with time in the glass. Sweet fruit entry with a big streak of minerality. A delicious aftertaste, full of flavour but with dry tannins showing on the finish. This is a wonderful wine, with a combination of mature fruit and acidity that delivers a great level of complexity. 94/100. Drunk 24-Nov-15. Pop 'n' pour.

Drunk at Otto's on 24 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Delicious. Fully mature, with tannin and acidity in lovely balance. Still a good size and full flavoured.
