Rather an austere wine for a burgundy, a little too clipped and rather more reminiscent of what a Nuits should taste of to me. It softened with some time open and has that transcluscent colour and sappy taste of Pinot, but not all that great. Some length on the palate but no sweetness which I look for in Burgundy. The nose has some sous bois, as I believe it is termed, which I think of as farmyard. Ponsot attracts big prices these days and I would not urge anyone to lash out on the basis of this wine. But very compact and clean for a wine that is almost twenty.
