Tue 28 May, The Bung Hole, DJ in town with friends

Post by djewesbury »

A small group gathered at the Bung Hole for a blind tasting, DJ being in town for the evening. We were joined by two guests: AHB being able to join at the last minute, he was accompanied by Mrs B; DJ brought his friend Richard West.

The line-up of bottles was interesting: five were from the same year, three were the same wine and two were decanted from the same bottle.

We also had a pork pie, made by DJ.

The team showed incredible skill in guessing.. AHB got two half-points; DRT got two half-points; Mrs B got one half-point. Nobody else was remotely close....

WIne of the Night was no. 8, THRA's Taylor 1970, which was everyone's favourite except for JDAW (Niepoort Secundum 00) and Mrs B (Fonseca 00).

Niepoort Secundum was a wine that many knew very little about and it duly came second.

DRT's Butler Nephew 55 was third.

I agree, we need a 'Vitamin P' thread somewhere.

In the meantime I refer you to comments made on the evening, from here onwards. Not that I'm blowing my own trumpet.
