In the spirit of trying something different blind VP tasting held in the Wine Library at 67 Pall Mall

Thread with arrangements, etc.

Bottles: ...and a bonus half bottle of 1980 Gould Campbell (GEAG)

A splendid range of VPs, including Alex's extremely rare 1958 Dow (which was excellent), with some wildly inaccurate and also inspired guessing!

A most enjoyable evening, and although the table was OK for a tasting, it was too tight for food as well. If a return visit is made then will secure use of the Lutyen's Room.

Wine Of The Night

The three placed wines were given points by all present, but Ian's G70 was WOTN with 12.5, just ahead of Julian's T80 (11). Alex's D58 third with 6.5.

What is it?

Monkey1 (D70) 5 points, but best in the room was George with 4 (including correctly identifying Ian's G70).

A interesting range of guesses for the ChAgAl95.

A splendid evening, and thank you to Neil for arranging it. The Dow '58 was indeed very fine, and the Taylor '80 was also an admirable example.

Many thanks Neil for organising this visit to 67PM. The food was top drawer - especially liked the chocolate orange dessert! The wine library table was perhaps just a smidgeon too small, though we did manage and I actually enjoyed standing up for an hour or so. We enjoyed a selection of very fine ports, and everyone managed at least a point in the guesses - a rarity!

Yes, chapeau to Neil for arranging with the range and quality of the Ports befitting the venue-a return visit (with a tad more space) would be very much in order! Food was of an enviable standard and the service also. As has been mentioned, the T80 was by far the best example I had drunk and has caused me to re-evaluate; certainly the surprise of the night!
