Thu 28 September - Port at the Boot & Flogger

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

On the 28th September, a small group of us got together to share some port - the theme was to Bring Something Like Port to Share (Blind). 8 was a perfect number, meaning that there was plenty of each port to go round. The monkey guessed that everyone had brought Dow 1970 and managed to score 1 point over the evening.

It was a very interesting selection of ports and my thanks to everyone who came along. There was one port that evening I hadn't tried before (Bu55c) and many that I haven't had for a while.

The ports were:
JDAW — Cockburn 1967
THRA — Burmester 1955 colheita bottled 1979
BMHR — Graham 1970
AHB — Croft 1927
CPR — Croft 1955 (Corney & Barrow)
RLC — Taylor 1977
MPM — Cockburn 1963
IDJ — Vesuvio 1992
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

As Alex noted above, eight was a fine number of people for sharing port. Ben's G70 took WOTN. I seemed to prefer the older stuff - Julian's Ck67 and my Ck63.

Stewards' enquiry! I was robbed of a point with my Cr60 guess for CPR!

You were indeed. Award yourself another mark and consider yourself much better than the monkey.
