Yesterday evening Paul and Charles Symington and Joao Vasconcellos presented the Symington Family Estates 2015 vintage ports which are being offered for sale this year. Alongside each of the 2015s was an older port from the same stable. The flights were as follows:
1) Dow Senhora da Ribeira 2015 and 1998.
2) Quinta do Vesuvio 2015 and 1995.
3) Cockburn 2015 and 2011.
4) Graham Stone Terraces 2015 and Graham 1970.
Charles also mentioned that he had made Cavadinha, Malvedos and Bomfim 2015 ports but that if these were to be released, they would be late released wines. I later had it confirmed that there is no Madalena.
Apparently Jeff made an impression on Charles in New York last week - you got a shout out Jeff!

Great notes, thanks for posting. Given your enthusiasm, do you think the shippers are selling themselves short by not declaring fully?

Absolutely. if I was in charge (which I'm not, I only drink the end product) I would have been very tempted to have made back-to-back declarations and played with the volumes to ensure the market was not saturated. But then I haven't tasted the 2016 ports yet - maybe they're no goodRonnieRoots wrote: ↑09:18 Tue 30 May 2017 Great notes, thanks for posting. Sounds like 2015-16 will be a perfect debate subject for years to come. That's good, it's been too long...

I “would have been very tempted to have made back-to-back declarations and played with” the initial release “volumes to ensure the market was not saturated”.AHB wrote: ↑17:57 Tue 30 May 2017Absolutely. if I was in charge (which I'm not, I only drink the end product) I would have been very tempted to have made back-to-back declarations and played with the volumes to ensure the market was not saturated.
