September, 22nd - LBV vs. Vintage Port tasting @Quevedo

Post by christopherpfaff »

Dear Port friends,

at 22nd of September Oscar Quevedo and me will do an interesting tasting in Sao Joao de Pesqueira (Douro region, Portugal) at Quevedos winery. Oscar Quevedo does kindly provide the location and a BBQ.

The topic is LBV versus Vintage Port, older than the year 2000. Especially from smaller producers sometimes LBV could reach Vintage quality, we want to see the evolution of LBV in comparison to Vintage Port.

It should be interesting to have different LBV´s of the same year and also LBV and VP from the same producer and the same year. We should concentrate on the following years: 1980´s and 1990´s, we assume to get a range of approximate 20 different Ports (line up will be published by me later).

staring time: 7pm
place to be: Quevedos winery (https://www.google.de/maps/place/Queved ... 1ff90024a4)
participation condition: every member of The Port Forum is very welcome and should bring (or ship in advance) at least one bottle of Vintage Port or LBV. It is necessary to give notice of participating in advance and telling what Ports you can bring via private message to me, to coordinate the tasting. As always the list of participants is limited - the early birg gets the worm.

Thanks Christopher! Sounds like a grand time.

September is too far in the future for my planning (tonight's hotel, for instance, remains a mystery), but I would certainly like to join and will keep you posted as the date approaches.
