Thanks Glenn. OK, I have a little more clarity in my plans. I think I will arrive in NYC lunchtime of Fri 16 May and depart on the evening of Sat 23 May. So any times in between suit me.

Sunday evening 18 May would be perfectly acceptable for me. I could arrange for my flights to be on Friday and Monday, thus satisfying the 2 days of vacation rule while still effectively retaining the weekend for touristy things in NYC with my wife and her brother.

Sunday is often a very good day to schedule a tasting :) Let's aim for May 18.

You are right, Sunday is May 17 and that is the day we should aim for. What if it was during the day (like 2-6), instead of in the evening? Would that work for you?

I'm open to the idea of the afternoon, but what would we do afterwards?

I was figuring we'd do tasting then early dinner. Currently looking at a steakhouse and an italian restaurant, will also try to find a contemporary american option.

Everything after "steakhouse" is blurry and unfocused.

I will do my best to attend. I will know shortly after date/time/location is finalized if I can attend or not. I can bring up 120 tasting glasses, some vintage port as well as tongs if need be.

You're in! This event is already looking rather nicely developed.
I'll update the first post.

Josh, Glenn, John - any thoughts on a theme yet? Are there any ports only available in the UK that you're curious about (perhaps BOBs)? I'm certainly curious about the Trader Joe QH11. With sufficient notice I can decide whether I'm sending bottles in advance from home or trying to secure them in the States (again, presumably a little in advance).
I'm also wondering what merchants I should visit when I'm in NYC.

To keep with the atonal music theme, none of our bottles should match in any way.

I won't know until at least next week, and likely not until the first week of March whether or not I can make it. Looking good for now, but I just can't say for certain yet.

If spots still available pls count me in!
V much looking forward to drinking wonderful port in great company.

Happy to contribute anything I own except the 1950s (will be drunk at my boy's 1st bday celebration). Am msimoes on cellartracker - dont have a ton of stuff but such is life.

Disclaimer... wife will be 2 weeks away from her due date at that point. I may not be able to make it last minute, perhaps best to count me in as likely and if spots run out I'll just sit it out.

Sunday, May 17 is now looking very promising. We don't have plane tickets yet, but that's really the only thing that's preventing me from being 100%.

Do we wish to co-ordinate our atonal Ports, or simply bring blind and see what happens?

Just to confirm, the preference is still Steakhouse?

I'll throw some themes out here this week: I'm packing up the port cellar (we're moving) so it's a great opportunity to pick a couple of "I have one of these?" ports :)

Suggested themes: a selection of 70s, or, a selection of 77's, or a smaller selection of 70vs77.
I would suggest we also omit Fonseca; it always shows well from both years and we would have a more educational evening without it as a result.

Alternatively, an Oddities theme.

As i'm busy packing port tonight and tomorrow, i'll set a few bottles aside, but input would be most welcome.
