Don't worry Phil, it will be an awful event. Nothing will be worth drinking and we'll let you know that for sure on the night.

Or I could take a webcam and laptop with me and we could sit you at the end of the table thanks to the magic of Skype?

On the Saturday you are helping me decant the imperial and magnums. Doubtless you have already followed the link on the list of placemats that leads to the decanter labels and TN sheets, so already know that there are TN sheets for your use during decanting. Doubtless.

I had not, but have now. I had no idea of the quantity of magnums involved, which will be truly impressive (I'd assumed you just needed additional hands for the imperial) and I will expect to be there a lot longer - Thank you for cheering up my Friday afternoon!

It has not yet been decided how many of these mags will be opened, as it depends on numbers attending and my guess as to their thirst.

Kasha, manageress of the B&F, has just phoned. Somewhat guessing, 100 glasses have been reserved.

Food orders have been requested. After perusing the menu please post here — don’t PM or email, reply to this thread.

JDAW:
◊ Beetroot with goats’ curd and pomegranate dressing;
◊ Cured ox tongue;
◊ Skinny chips;
◊ Bramdean pudding (house speciality dessert, “like a trifle but without any of the healthy fruit stuff” — biscuit base soaked in amontillado with sultanas, custard, and cream).

If somebody wanted to share the ox tongue and a game pie, that would work for me.

Indeed. I thought her statement was true and wise and noble, as it allows us to report home that we had our vegetables.

That looks like a goodly amount of Fonseca for a school night.

Will Alex not be bringing a half-bottle? (And why has Julian not written to the IVDP to get them banned for being too small?)

Menu looks good. My choices:

Potted Shrimp
Game Pie
New Pots
Peas and beans with mint lemon and butter

Requirement for dessert to be determined on the night (although the Treacle tart and custard is going to be severely tempting)!

No starter.

Sirloin steak (black and blue - please ensure fat is properly burnt) with handcut chips.
I see no option for a sauce but a Bernaise, if possible.
Carrots

No dessert.

If no decision received Potted Shrimp and Sirloin Steak medium rare would be a safe bet.

Lies put about by my enemies. As everybody knows, the perfect size for drinking while decanting the ports for the evening is a magnum.

By PM a complainant — who might wish to remain anonymous — wrote:May I point out that the kerning between the H and the B of 'AHB' is a little wide in your placemat for next Monday?
Also, my personal taste is to make the overtitle (Imperial, Magnum, Single) a little darker - I find that mid-grey hard to see.
Fixed: updated draft of the placemats.
