A review thread has been created, and also a post containing the parameters by which the placemats were made.

Apologies for the late notice, but I am going to have to drop out. Unfortunately work commitments will keep me away from Central London tomorrow evening.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I have been unable to drop off the Cr50 to ensure it's timely arrival at the venue tomorrow. It's therefore likely to be making an appearance between 7 and 7.30pm, although I will endaevour to get there earlier. Possibly not ideal but the bottle will be decanted first thing tomorrow morning.

I think 1950 is too light a vintage for a twelve-hour decant. My vote is that it is decanted on arrival, and sampled throughout the evening. There are six of us, so we will have enough each for a protracted sampling.

Do others agree?

I’ll decant the 1927 on arrival. When should a 2002 LBV be decanted?

Sadly something has gone very wrong with my retrieval of the Croft bottles from EHD. I would love to be able to explain what has happened, but as EHD are utterly hopeless at communicating or responding to messages, I have no idea where my bottles are. There is a very small chance they will materialise tomorrow morning but I think plan B is required.

I have to hand some T70 and G77 which could be deployed as countermeasures.
Thoughts?

If the 63 and 70 can be covered by Tom then both Derek and I would be very grateful. Let me know if so, and I'll leave the T70 and G77 at home. Many thanks.

Two bottles are needed, one for MPM, one for DRT. Obvious vintages include 1900 1904 1908 1912 1917 1920 1922 1924 1935 1942 1945 1960 1963 1966 1970.

Please let me know what is chosen, for the placemats (which I’ll print on Wednesday afternoon).

All the missing bottles will arrive tomorrow, and we’ll have a splendid session.

If you happened not to have 1963 and 1970, but you did have 1900 and 1912, it wouldn’t have been helpful for you to have concluded, erroneously, that you couldn’t help.

As it happen this circumstance didn’t materialise.

Decanting questions:
• What time should Davy’s decant the Croft 1985? (Failing cogent answer I’ll request 14:00).
• What time should I decant the Croft 2002 LBV? (Failing cogent answer I’ll do so at ≈ 14:00).
• What time should I decant the halves of Croft 2004 LBV? (Failing cogent answer I’ll do so at ≈ 14:00).

From my experience of Croft LBV I would say the earlier the better...this of course may not be considered 'cogent'.

Surely the circumstance resulted in a status quo...merely wishful thinking preceded!!

Usual start time is 6½pm. I’ll be there about 6pm as I have promised Laura (assistant manager) a lesson in how to tong a bottle of Port. Health-and-safety concerns were raised — hurray! — and dismissed.
