I won’t be able to change the placemats on the day of the tasting. Changes to be submitted by close of play on Monday.JDAW, in AHB’s post, wrote:Current draft of the placemats. (Placemat § added to this post by jdaw1.)
The wines will be served double blind to most, but single blind to those who know what they are bringing. I'll handicap people with the advantage of tasting single blind appropriately, but please remove the crosses from the "What is it?" sheet. What this does mean, however, is that people will need to make a note of what they think each bottle is because I'm not going to let any clues go out before we've tasted everything!jdaw1 wrote:I won’t be able to change the placemats on the day of the tasting. I estimate that we will need 90 glasses for Port and 20 glasses for wine so the current order for 120 glasses should give us a handful of spares.jdaw1 wrote:Alex: we have requested 120 glasses. Do you still believe that to be sufficient? If not, please call The Bung Hole on +44 20 7831 8365, or post here requesting that I do so.

I'll bring a six pack so that the three of you can have two bottles each. That still leaves me with about 6 bottles more than I need if anyone else wants any.jdaw1 wrote:Yes please. Some — what you can carry with ease.
Done: placemats updated. Reload images with ⌘R or Control-R.AHB wrote:please remove the crosses from the "What is it?" sheet.
Do you want the decanter labels option to be on, and me to pre-make decanter labels? Here AHB wrote:but rarely would I have occasion to use decanter labels unless my Port Chums were coming round.
I am, however, using them tomorrow.
Thank you.jdaw1 wrote:Done: placemats updated. Reload images with ⌘R or Control-R.AHB wrote:please remove the crosses from the "What is it?" sheet.
No need. I have already made blinded decanter labels and will use a willing volunteer from TBH to complete the final step.jdaw1 wrote:Do you want the decanter labels option to be on, and me to pre-make decanter labels? Here AHB wrote:but rarely would I have occasion to use decanter labels unless my Port Chums were coming round.

Best of luck, Phil, I hope it goes well.PhilW wrote:Really wishing I could join you tomorrow night - feels like far too long since my last tasting. However, on this occasion the instructions "nil by mouth from 8pm" probably doesn't mean "go to London and drink a bottle's worth of port between 6 and 8pm", but hopefully will be back tasting very soon. Will be interested to hear the results of the black-glass tasting, intriguing
This is one of those moments when common sense might have to trump pedantry. Alas.PhilW wrote:on this occasion the instructions "nil by mouth from 8pm" probably doesn't mean "go to London and drink a bottle's worth of port between 6 and 8pm"
