Thursday 17th July?

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ian mentions here that he is in London on 17 July. So am I.

Would there be enough people interested and available for us to get together?

Would only be able to join a bit later @7:30 PM. And of course if work is not playing up.

I'm still on for this (and may be able to rustle up a +1). Anyone else interested, to reach a quorum?

Please could one of the usual suspects send a message to my missus requesting my presence. As if I haven’t yet noticed that there is a tasting next week. She won’t be fooled, but likes the kiddie charm of it.

Should I bring a VP, or a VP and a tawny?

My opinion - just a VP. Save the brown sticky stuff for those who appreciate it.

Placemats: we are AHB, IDJ (and a +1, perhaps), and JDAW. I’ll be bringing a 1970, and will know which tomorrow (the one not being drunk with the Gandys this weekend). Please could others reveal.

Alex: please may I edit the first post, to insert there links to and images of the placemats?

Edit: +WPS, but now –AHB.

Rather embarrassingly, it seems the reason I am in London on the 17th is not to drink port with my chums but is instead to have dinner with my daughter, who is currently working in London (and does not yet drink port).

I will have to drop out. I am very sorry if this causes problems for anyone else.

Bring her along. She can be trained.

I would, but I have promised to take her elsewhere.

Ian: that leaves the two of us, and your possible +1. That’s quorate, but less than exciting.

And my +1 looks they have a funeral to attend and so disappointingly (and in spite of Derek's definition of a 'quorum'), it looks like we should pull the date-and blame Alex for getting our hopes up!
