OK in the top post I have provisionally allocated bottles for folks to bring (bold and italics initials). Some people have multiple bottles available - please drop me a PM if there are any issues with the bottles I've allocated to you, or if you can't spare multiple bottles. Given the uneven balance of provision, we'll balance the costs for this tasting. I've had a quick squint at the prices I have paid for various 80/83/85, which range from £31 to £42, so I propose that we just have a flat price of £38 per bottle for contributions made. Again please drop me a PM if this leaves anyone high and dry on costs!

This approach works for me.

I'm quite weak on 1980 (no F80)
I have most/all 85 and 83.

No problem for me. Even better if they happened to have F80 :D

I note Tom has not yet responded to the thread. It is entirely possible that he won't be back in the UK by then. However, if he is he might have a bottle of Fonseca 1980 available.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Thanks Alex. Ian has a plan afoot which might solve the gap. If that fails then we might need to call on Tom if he's around by then.

We have several weeks until this tasting - could I ask those bringing bottles to try and get them to the B&F some time in advance. Not the end of the world if you can't, but always helps improve the prospects of a better showing if they can rest a while.

In the first post are pictures of the current draft of the placemats.

This first draft has three pages, each of one vintage. An alternative would be 2½ A4 pages, each column being one shipper, so saving some table space. Or 15 could be squeezed on one A3, shrinking the radius to 118.978pt (from the six-on-A4 of 131.315pt). Preferences?

Edit: upon reflection, I think I prefer 2½ A4 pages, each two columns of three, one column per shipper, and so (seen as a whole) one row per vintage. Failing cogent disagreement, I’ll do that.

I also marginally prefer the proposed arrangement of a column per shipper. Makes it easier to compare a shipper across vintages, as well as comparing shippers within a vintage.

Thanks Tony - just the regular F85 required if you could?

Charles - that takes you down to just the two bottles.

Top post updated with the latest bottle positions.

Please may I join?

I only have F85, so buying in is probably the best solution.

I'm in. I could bring F83 (or more accurately, I can bring F83 if I have any left, otherwise IDJ can hopefully bring F83 for me since he has my other bottles of it).

I have invited one more guest and have temporarily held a space. I'll release the space in a few days if the guest cannot confirm.

Thanks, Mike

I see that Tony has lots of availability, some of which duplicate bottles that are being brought by people contributing two.

Is there a solution where Tony supplies a different bottle and I bring my F85?

Phil, this is no problem.

As Mike alluded to in earlier post, I have managed to secure a bottle of F80 from an unopened and well stored case. Will hopefully then bring the T80, F83 and T80 with me on Weds.

I meant of course F80 (am not bringing two bottles of T80 especially since I only own one :D )
