OK, final two bottles delivered to the B&F and a full bottle audit completed - everything is now there bar the F85 which Derek is bringing.
I am travelling to London with the F85 tomorrow morning. Please choose an option:

1. Decant on Tuesday evening (now)
2. Decant at 07:00 on Wednesday
{travel to London by train}
3. Decant on Wednesday evening in London
4. Decant on Thursday morning in London
5. Decant at the B&F on Thursday evening

My preference is 1 or 2 but I am not in charge of decanting.

I'd say 1. F85 is very happy with a 48 hr decant, and saves you having to faff around decanting in the morning!

The TNs here will, for me at least, be very interesting reading.

Opinions sought. For the 14 bottles already at the B&F, decanting could happen either 11-12, or 1530-1630. Would these vintages be better with a 7 hour decant or a 2½ hour decant?

I would go for the longer decant if possible

I can assist you for either option Mike. It looks like the earlier decant is favoured...in which case how about a quick bite at

Splendid. Many thanks Simon, and great idea for lunch. I need to get back to the office from 1-3, but I'm sure we can get 7 bottles each decanted in an hour :D

Do you have any of those little foldable discs for pouring spouts?

I do indeed have two of the discs, which I will bring along. I shall look forward to seeing you on Thursday at 11 at the B&F.

I will be dashing over from the airport, should be there around 7.15pm
Happy to say that I have managed to secure an earlier flight, so should be there just after 6.30pm

The F85 was decanted last night as instructed. It looked like Port and smelled like Port. I didn't taste it due to my legendary willpower and self-restraint.

I should be at B&F around 18:30 tomorrow.

Decanting accomplished successfully. No obvious concerns about any of the bottles which is good news! Some musings about the juices, Fonseca and Taylor 80 and 83 both lighter in colour than others. Also the Warres generally lighter in colour. Many of the wines offering much fruit on the nose. F83 stood out with a much more evolved, raisened nose.
