Are we set on the theme? Fonseca vertical, mostly supplied by g-man with the rest of us adopting/splitting cost?
how about we do these

55, 66, 70, 75, 77, 80, 85

since i have these immediately available on hand
Sound good to me! I'll have to check to be certain, but I think I could add a 1994 to that mix if we want something that young. It would also be nice to have a 1963 just to fill out the major years, and that would bring us to 9 bottles for 9 people.

Don't ship anything just yet -- I'm working out some availability questions, and if I can still attend then I'll be able to source some of our missing fonsecas.

Okay. We'll see how Sushi's situation works out, then decide how "young" we need to go to have a reasonable number of bottles.
G-man wrote:we could drink one of your grahams stone terraces if we need
Oh, I still plan to do that! Though we might have to move that to Friday night... if I can coax you out to dinner two nights in a row.

Sandy and Ruth will be available on Friday night as well, and we typically do a more casual dinner at some new restaurant we want to try. If we bring just a single bottle, I wouldn't even mind paying corkage if the restaurant insists.

Hi. I too would like to adopt a bottle from someone UNLESS I just pay whatever $ contribution for the wine is determined.

Sorry for the delay as it's been busy !

here are the prices i paid

55- 285$
66- 250$
70 -140$
75 - 70$
77 - 140$
80 - 55$
85 - 70$

So assuming 10 people those wines would be 100$/person

we typically find a place that's 100$/person for food too.
(and btw, we need to start looking for places!)

let me know what you guys think

i think some of you have some of the bottles i have,

if you wish to contribute your bottle in place i'm sure i can do some math to work out the difference between what you would owe vs your contribution.

Seems like we need a 1960, 1963, and 1983 to get to 10 bottles for 10 people. I'd be content with that filled-in lineup.

I can help source (and ship to G-man) if needed. I can't really help with a restaurant... or if I did, we'd end up at one of the places we've gone before.

I do have the 1985 but your price is similar. Logistics likely easier if less shipping involved. Will keep mine unless you are running low on 1985s, or else would prefer me to contribute mine for any reason.

Umm. I would personally prefer Manhattan, but am open minded.

No luck with the likes of: Palm, Allison 18, Northsquare, Keens, etc? I would have voted for any of those, personally.

But it's gonna be great regardless.

As for bottles, I'm happy to adopt at Jeff's costs -- I think the prices seem reasonable, and they come with a guilt put option in the event they're all wrecked, and we'll pick up Jeff's check if they're all smashing!

We, and Glenn, are staying in Brooklyn, so that would be ok with us, but in the city is fine, too.

Thanks for making all the arrangements.

Not at all. Kari and I, and Sandy and Ruth, will all be staying at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott.

Edit: oops, I see Sandy already said the same thing.

okay

if anybody knows any other suggestions they coudl throw it out that'd be great

our goto place unfortunately has a new gm and i'm trying to reach out to her.

there are a few other places but the space might be tight and on a saturday night extremely busy

the steakhouses are a bit on the pricier side at 125$/person so i'm trying to avoid them for now

Okay

Options in dining range
we might have a go at
http://www.fourseasons.com/newyork/dining/
but I'm negotiating with them right now. Having dined at this place, it's a nice wide open space and they ahve great stemware too.

there's also another option
125$/person (before tax/tip) and we're trying to work on the corkage.
at charly bird.
we can order a whole hog in that case if we give them a heads up.
