Davy's list W85 as one of the wines they sell from stock. Would it be easy enough to purchase a bottle from them, and ask them to have it decanted for us? Or does that miss the point...?
Perhaps, since I was unable to get a Kopke 84 Colheita for Phil, I could try and get hold of a W83 the day before the tasting? This would give me time to stand and double decant. Again, perhaps if someone has this in their cellar there's no need to go to these lengths...
Just a couple of thoughts...

Davy's will absolutely do as you have suggested, but usually need around a week's notice to guarantee getting the bottle from their retail site in Greenwich to the wine bar of your choice. I don't think they will be able to help out for April 2nd.

I am also confused. Please could the organiser or the deputy organiser post a list of which person is bringing which bottle(s). Thanks.

In the final post of the previous page jdaw1 wrote:Derek has a guest and will be thirsty that evening, so will be bringing G83 T83 D85 (all of which are chez moi: suggest decant times). My F85 is at The Bung Hole I could phone at lunch and ask them to decant it. PW is bringing F83 & D83. AHB & THRA have agreed to bring G85 T85. So that’s {G, T, F, D}×{’83, ’85} done.

We have an international Warre crisis. Tom: can you please cope?

This is what caused me confusion, when combined with my earlier post where I said that I would bring G83. It will be difficult to get to my G85 before the tasting, and I may be a little late as a result. I will decant prior to arrival.

I do not have T85 available - it's all in Seckfords.

Sorry my fault, I failed to notice. THRA has everything to hand, and returns soon. Let’s see whether he can do G85 T85 W83 W85.

I'm currently in a hotel near Haverfordwest, whose internet connection makes Thailand look lightning fast..

Will be driving back on Tues (300 miles..) - and can grab a bottle or two before grabbing a train into London..

Please forgive if I nod off at the table - pls let me know what is needed...

I'm slightly confused. The clear part:

DRT - bringing G83 T83 D85
PW - bringing F83 D83
JDAW - bringing F85

The confusing part:

AHB - bringing... (G83 originally, now nothing or as per last post perhaps bringing G85 but arriving [and decanting] late?)
THRA - requested to bring G85 T85 W83 W85

Noting that Tom will likely be back home very late for bottle pickup+decant, plus your earlier query regarding decant times; For ideal comparison the bottles should really have similar decant times - I would suggest 6-12hr. As this might be unlikely to be possible for AHB/THRA bottles, I offer to bring G85, W85 and W83 in addition to the F83 and D83 (I cannot provide T85, sorry), which would all be decanted 6-8hrs before tasting and would solve most problem with AHB/THRA timing, if that would help. If wanted please let me know, otherwise I shall just arrive with F83 and D83 as per current plan.

I can confirm that I am planning on turning up tommorow with nothing more than a large thirst and some portraits of HMQ.

very kind but quite unnecessary....i'm well stocked on "Dos Santos" tawny (EUR 6.20 a bottle, and drinkable if left in the freezer for a couple of hours before serving!)

I am quite exhilarated. Is it always this exciting in the quiet hours before a tasting? Was it like this at Scampton before 617 Squadron went out..?
