after Christmas Blues with DrDirk 28th of December

Post by WS1 »

Hi,

DrDirk is coming to London over New years eve and I thought it would be a good idea to meet up. Venue is thought to be the Bunghole and date is the 28th of December. Theme is the popular bring a bt of vintage port in tin foil

I could be keen - will know next week.

Are we drinking only port or perhaps also some wine in tin foil?

DrDirk and I are also keen on wines as you know

So let us enrich the theme to include wines as well....

sad that you cannot make it, wanted to open a 1981 Chateau Fortia CDP, but this needs waiting for another day then......

Have a good Christmas!

I wrote this in a particularly disconsolate mood this morning as i finished my document and then started to assess how many hours of sleep i would be able to get before heading to all day meetings today (answer...1 hour).

While i don't think the outlook for 28th is much rosier a few hours on, its not completely out of the question that i'll be done by Friday evening.

Anyway, happy christmas (bah humbug!!!)

Hi Rob,

first of all you should start to become more positive. You are disallowed to think there will be no time for the 28th. Because if you think this now there will be none I feel.
Secondly you know that I have lots of things on as well and feel I am doomed but when my mother told me on Saturday she misses good wine/port I saw the light at the end of the tunnel... :D
So you get on and just pop by on Friday evening if it works out. If it does not work out then tough luck and we find another occasion.

Hi Rob,

also just remembered a fitting quote for your situation from an English chap who said once: "If you are going through hell, just keep going!" Was another famous one from Winston Churchill I think.

Given how few people there are, and the likely paucity of other possibilities, could it be in somebody’s London digs?

Hi Julian,

hmm, since DrDirk is staying at my house over New Years eve I can offer to do it in Tring or more precise near Tring Station

Placemats will be updated to say ‟Tring”. But I still can’t come.

That would leave me spending a total of nearly five hours on the train tomorrow, and having to leave at 10.15pm - so not viable for me I'm afraid..

Then I think we have to cancel due to lack of a London venue
