What is the bottle immediately to the left of the 1965 Taylor Quinta de Vargellas? I see the one two to the left looks like it has a BBR label which would make that the 1963 which I would have expected to be next to the 1965 - so what's in between?jdaw1 wrote:Am alone in the house and nobody is looking.

Very jealous, trust you will all have an excellent evening tomorrow night, providing JDAW's will-power holds.
Re: Taylor Vertical - Friday, 22 March 2013
Two lines: still-full bottles of Taylor, and empty washed re-labelled wine bottles, to be the decanters.
Nearest the camera one can just make out a TTF86 label:

FYI, my plan for tomorrow is to photograph as we decant, and post soon after (unless time becomes a binding constraint). So the TN threads might well gain posts during the day.

DrDirk and I will have some older claret (Chateau Pibran 1955) after I will have him picked up from the airport to make the wait bearable.jdaw1 wrote:Must resist temptation. Must resist temptation. Must resist temptation. Must resist temptation.

Re: Taylor Vertical - Friday, 22 March 2013
Now that's really not fair! First JDAW posts pictures of delicious bottles of Taylor VP and then WS1 starts talking about drinking '55 claret.
And I have to work tomorrow while this is all going on! Aargh!!

This tasting is being documented more thoroughly than some previous tasting. Attendees are encouraged to contribute by taking tasting notes, and then importantly posting them.

I have spoken to your parents and they have agreed that you two pesky boys should sit at opposite ends of the classroom.AHB wrote:TBH has a wifi link so if you have an iPhone / iPad or similar you will be able to play live commentary at our end of the table.benread wrote:Please advise, will TBH be providing live coverage of Day 2 from Auckland?

Hi,
DrDirk and I are safely at home and had a quick dinner and the bt of Chateau Pibran 1955 which was beautiful. Since the weather is so miserable and cold I had to open some port (Offley 1970) which keeps us warm for the moment.
Looking fwd to tomorrow where temperatures will be even lower This will support port drinking even more
regards

It is good to know that 50% of the incoming German troops have arrived safely in Blighty. Hopefully Herr Probst will have equal success tomorrow.
This is shaping up to be a not too shabby evening.

Re: Taylor Vertical - Friday, 22 March 2013
Has decanting started yet? Where are the photos of that purple sunshine swirling through a funnel? Where are the pictures of the solid crud in the filter? Where are the descriptions of the appearance of the sediment in the bottles - whether it is leaf like, or solid, or powdery?
How do we know that there is no port, just two very happy (and intoxicated) port-heads in South London?

DRT due to arrive and work to start at 11am. So for now, at most one ‟very happy (and intoxicated) port-head”.

Managed to get a train. Anticipating arrival at about 7pm but the snow is starting to get heavy. Getting excited now!
Re: Taylor Vertical - Friday, 22 March 2013
Set up is done. It is safe to go direct to TBH -- and also safe to join DRT and me in The Old Nick for a beer.
