I can upgrade my "maybe" to a "probably" for the 8th. I might have to leave slightly earlier (around 10ish) as I will be unable to stay overnight in London due to commitments the following day - If that's all ok please include me :)

Phil.

Tuesday 8th November 2011 it is.

Location: suggestions please.

A draft of the placemats, revealing the theme. I think there’s probably enough circles thereon to cope with a seven-man event. Those wishing to reserve specific circles may request same my initials can be found by examining the Circlearrays.

The current list of people is in this thread’s first post.

Julian,

Congratulations (belatedly) on the arrival of child #3. You are a brave man. I am now convinced that the '3 are no more trouble than 2' arguement is propagated only by parents who have 3 children and wants others to share their pain!

I will not be able to commit to an 8th November date for a while, but shall make every attempt to be there if a place at the table remains available at a time I am able to committ. (I have a plan...!)

This being a school night, I propose to bring only one bottle with me - could I reserve the spiral star? This star does my eyes in when I'm sober so I am curious to know how it looks when I am less sober.

Unless you fancy trying a new place (always good), I'd suggest using TCP as the weather will be cooler and we've used the Steak Exchange a few times recently; happy anywhere without good port, food and company though :D

Unless I'm missing something, we can only see the output pdf and distillation log, so can't see the contents of the Circlearrays variable except in consequence? Couldn't spot any consequential initials, but could have missed them (also noted the final sheet of decanting notes appears to be titled 'female'...). If not already assigned, I'll go for the 12 degree star?

In ‘consequence’ should be enough.

That doesn’t look perfect. I will investigate, but not tonight.

Can i take "Council of Europe" and "Chequered" please.

And before i turn up with the wrong bottle, is there a deeper meaning to the theme, or do i just bring along a port which is much-liked for one or other particular reason?

I would not have guessed that to be your choice. Done.

I hadn’t expected that to go quickly.
RAYC wrote:and "Chequered"
Both done.

‟Port with Star Quality”: says what it means.

I have never been to the Steak Exchange, so must rely on your judgement.

Worthy of mention is the Bunghole of 57 High Holborn WC1V 6DX (☎ +44 20 7831 8365), which has two private rooms (which can seat 4, and 8-10), and, as a backup, the out-of-the-way table 6 around which six could sit. The deputy manageress, Stephanie, seems very helpful.

For some reason, this thread has escaped my attention - congratulations on your expanding tribe!

Given that bonfire night is on a Saturday this year, I should be crawling out of the smoke and checking that I have the correct tally of fingers come the eighth..

..perhaps I'm being dim, but the detail of the theme escapes me - maybe create a new thingy for EFTA - the only bit of euro-cooperation that has ever made sense, and was, as it happens, founded on the day I was born..

..now then, which vintage shall I bring..

..hmmm!

Tom

Take a look at the draft of the placemats. It is ‟a stellar new theme”, as made needlessly clear by the header.

Aha! - but writ so small I didn't immediately notice it..

..OK, EFTA can wait another day - star quality it is then.

- Do we have a non-attending volunteer to help avoid duplication?

No need: if two people bring Cockburn 1900 we’ll drink both.

On further thought, pre-Christmas we should go where we are known. I have never been to the Steak Exchange. Would that be a cause of upset to people?

Not for me - I like the Steak Exchange and am happy to return there again.

Done. I will follow-up with an email to the manager in order to confirm arrangements, copying you. I have also settled on bottle choice!

hmmm...could we use our powers of deduction to ascertain their identity from this clue...?!

By contrast, I don't have a clue what I will bring. I have, at least, narrowed my choice to one of 8 bottles.

Julian and Rob, Assuming there is space available at the table I have managed to pick my moment and be granted a pass. It seems to be a 2 for 1 principle in our house at the moment. She gets two nights out, I get 1!

Splendid. Do choose a star for yourself.
