PLACEHOLDER: Quinta do Cachao Vertical

Post by forest26 » 12:51 Fri 09 Mar 2018

I visited Caves Messias in N D Gaia a few weeks ago. Between Messias and myself, we can construct an almost complete vertical of Quinta do Cachao VP. There is an offer from Messias to help put this together. Let me know your thoughts - If there is interest and I will start to firm up....
Approximate timescale Sept/Oct 18 or Feb/Mar 19?

(My assumption is that PF members do not hold a lot of these and that most (if not all) of the bottles will come from Messias / myself.

Vintages
1955 (struggling with this one)

Below all available
  1. 1960
  2. 1963
  3. 1965
  4. 1966
  5. 1967
  6. 1970
  7. 1975
  8. 1976
  9. 1977
  10. 1979
  11. 1980
  12. 1982
  13. 1983
  14. 1984
  15. 1985
  16. 1989

  19. 2005
  20. 2007
  21. 2009
  22. 2011
Quinta Do Cacho is located in the Cima Corgo and has been cultivated since 1845. The Quinta was acquired by Messias in 1956 and subsequently renovated. Until 2009 the production was labeled as Quinta do Cachao

Yes please.

I have owned two bottles of port from Messias - the 1963 Cachão was opened for my birthday in 2013 and the Messias 1977 colheita was drunk in April 2010. In addition, I have tasted Cachão from 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1970 and Messias from 1970 and 2011. And that's it!

Thanks for the idea Tony.

From my chats with Messias, Messias Vigario always said, that 60 was their first Vintage and 47 their first Colheita. We might want to include some of them as well as they really are better in quality than the Vintages.

Hi I will need to start organising this - last week in September is looking promising. Any comments before I finalise?

With 22 Vintages, table space will be a constraint.
