To my understanding the labels "Messias" and "Quinta do Cachao" were used on different markets for the same wine until the vintage of 2007. As of 2009 "Messias" and "Quinta do Cachao" are two different wines. Is that what you mean by the quote above?

Ideally not the Monday night please, as I am likely to be in Ipswich - although I can rearrange if required.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

We have a lot of vintages to cover - any thoughts on how best we should approach this (e.g 2 flights) ?

I will have to postpone this to a later date as we will not have the wines in time - the suggestion is near the BFT.

I still have the room booked if we want to do something else (and a little less logistically challenging).

Should this be the theme for Victoriaʼs 200th birthday?

How about we use the 13 Feb for a 1970 theme. Most of us will have a bottle of ‘70 fairly handy I would think. I stop short of saying a ‘70 horizontal as that needs a bit more planning and thinking through.

Once we can get some support for a theme, everyone who signed up for 13 Feb can confirm or drop away if preferred.

I'm always happy to drink 1970 Ports. I'm in.

You could loosen it slightly and make it "Port from the '70s"

If there is a space for the new 70 theme would love to come.
These wines need testing!

I would like to keep my name down for Quinta do Cachao Vertical whenever it is scheduled but will skip the now proposed 70s theme for this date please.

I need to drop out of the 13th I am afraid.

Still very keen on the Quinta do Cachao when this is rearranged.

Thanks

I’ve also got a challenge now with Weds the 13th ☹️
Would anyone be interested in the following evening. 14 Feb. Valentine’s Day. I haven’t sought permission yet...just checking appetite of others first!

70's tasting would be nice and easy. Definitely up for this as Room is booked for 13th - I may have a problem with moving to Valentines day

I'll work out an alternative date with Miguel from Messias. We are both keen to organise this but it will have to be later.

I'll amend the post header.

It would not go down well at home if I chose to spend Valentine's night with my beloved Port chums rather than my even more beloved other half. I wouldn't be able to make the 14th.

70's (or from that decade, don't mind which) is a great alternative idea. Still up for Quinta do Cachao when it is possible to arrange. The 13th works for me, but the 14th might land me in trouble.

Is certain that this won’t be on Thursday 23 May 2019: Victoria’s 200th?

No this will not be on that. I need to arrange a date with Miguel - he has just become a father so is a little distracted.

OK I Have an offer of a date second half of October

I am proposing 15 or 16 or (more likely) 22nd or 23rd (a week before the 69). I need to get back to confirm quickly.

Miguel will send over most of the port to me - I don't think there will be a cost for their ports.
Where I have had to purchase a few odd bottles to fill in the gaps there will be a nominal cost.

Let me know your thoughts.....
