Thu 15 Feb 2018: Mr. Wolfgang Starz

Post by jdaw1 »

Several current subjects of Her Majesty have the great pleasure of inviting Herr Wolfgang Starz to a Port Tasting on Thursday the 15th of February 2018, to commemorate his becoming Mr. Wolfgang Starz.

In The White Furnace, at The Boot & Flogger, commencing 6½pm sharp. Carriages 11pm.

The theme will be, of course, Port Fit for A New Subject of Her Majesty, from Shippers Now or Previously Eligible for Membership of the Factory House.

Dress code: British Business Casual.
WS1 wrote: 09:14 Sat 13 Jan 2018With regards to the Port fit for a Queen's new subject tasting what about Tuesday the 13th of February? I have the citizenship ceremony on Monday the 12th so that date could fit nicely.
Attendees:
  1. WPS (F60 from JDAW);
  2. JDAW (N70);
  3. DRL (W70);
  4. DRT (Cr70);
  5. AHB (F63);
  6. CPR (G70);
  7. IDJ (T66);
  8. PW (Ni70).
Food order.

The placemats (and the parameters by which made):

Please put me down as a possible attendee. I might have to withdraw if something happens to my second knee between now and then.

May I suggest that "German pours" should be obligatory for all if there are fewer that eight attendees.

Congratulations, Wolfgang,

It is with deep regret that I must decline to add my name to those inviting Mr Wolfgang Starz to celebrate his becoming a subject of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

This is partly due to the fact that my principles to do not allow me, in all good conscience, to celebrate a free man giving up his freedom in exchange for a lifetime of servitude as the plaything of royalty but mostly to do with the fact that I don't get back to the UK until early on the morning of Wednesday 14th Feb.

Tuesday the 13th was a suggestion, Thursday the 15th of February could also be an option if you want to consider to review your principle in the presence of friends. :lol: . Obviously you would be also back in the UK to make it!

Under those circumstances I would be delighted to accept an invitation to a slightly delayed celebration. The 15th sounds perfect.

There is the tiniest of tiny chances that I might be able to attend, though it's not likely right now.
However, even if not present I will most definitely toast the event remotely, and am very happy that Wolfgang will continue to be with us.

Well, I've only seen him wearing a pointed helmet on.. three(?) occasions so far...

p.s. We (Julian) should really spell Wolfgang's name correctly in the thread title and first post, unless he's changing it to a British spelling? ;)

Deary me, I'm really not on the ball. I am unfortunately not able to attend. That is half term week and I am out of the country with the family.

I had thought that the Anglicization plus the fact that Wolfgang was the feature (star) of the tasting was a clever play-I suggest we leave it that way within the title of the thread.

And by the way count me in please.

I thought the name was intentionally misspelled to make it sound more british.

After an appropriate nudge (apologies for failing to read the post in sufficient detail), I would also like to join several current subjects of Her Majesty in having the great pleasure of inviting Herr Wolfgang Starz to a Port Tasting on Thursday the 15th of February 2018, to commemorate his becoming Mr. Wolfgang Starz.
