June 25 2016 NYC 50s 70s tasting

Sorting out the cellar when I whiffed a familar brown sugar smell lurking. A little further sniffing found that i have a leaky Cockburn 1950 and a leaky cockburn 1970.

Sounds like it'd make for a decent tasting.

Who's interested?

I'll host my house one of the Saturdays in June.
Aiming for afternoon so we can get some BBQing in also.

That is close to a couple weddings the month before, but if a date is picked I'll look into it. A shame I broke out my '47 last year :-(.

this sounds real fun. i have no cockburn of my own to contribute tho. have a v nice half bottle of 1952 Kopke Colheita that i could contribute...

i may be getting ahead of myself as long island would be a ways away from NJ and the wife would have to be in on the deal, but excited about it nonetheless.

thank you Julian for pointing me to this thread!

A generous offer, but we'll be in Italy from late May until July. Drat!

If you might be interested please reply in that thread. Certainly don’t reply to this private message: I’m in London. Instead do reply in that thread.

Several candidate attendees have no Cockburn. Perhaps the organiser would allow a theme of ‘1950 1960 1970 1980’? Or, more concisely, “19[5-8]0”.

Don’t reply to me — this Londoner won’t be going.

I will be around but have three dinners that week already so not the best date choice. If you have some dry Portuguese wines, my wife will come, but she hates drinking that cough syrup.

I'll have >20 lbs of fresh maine lobsters shipped in from a fish monger @ 7am that morning.
edit: i'd be asking people to help out with 10$ to help pay for the lobsters

as with dry portugese wines, being a distributor for Quevedo means i may have a couple of bottles here and there =)

Let me know Jay.

Cockburn 1950 will be opened to pair with the lobsters
