Latest out of a stash of these that had an unusual pedigree - they spent most of their lives in Japan before being re-patriated to Christies for sale.
Cork integrity has been a bit of an issue with this lot, with most showing seepage signs, but with Derek's help, this is now the last of the damp ones, and I still have four to save for later...
Decanted two days ago this was sharp at first, and a bit lean. Now it is full, smooth, and luscious - I do pity those who never have the patience to let a decanter stand for a couple of days - they miss so much...
This bottle is not so obviously 'Vargellas' as previous ones, and at first sip I thought I caught a hint of corking - but no sign now.
A wine at perfect maturity..
..score 7-6
