NV Morrison Tawny 10YO (bottled 2019)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Morrison’s Own Label 10yo tawny (from Symington Family Estates), bottled 2019 — £12 from Morrison’s, discounted to £11 at times and within the scope of the Key Worker discount Morrison's offer (which brings the price down to £9.90).

Burnished copper red tone, 40% opaque. Toffee apple and lavender oil on the nose, not particularly attractive but not offensive. Gentle on the palate at first, with golden syrup and strong apple acidity. Nicely balanced, dominated by the apple; a little simple but nicely done. Lots of acidity on the aftertaste, then a little burnt sugar and Turkish Delight on the long finish. Very good value for money and a nice 10yo tawny. 87/100. Drunk 22-Oct-2020. Decanted 30 minutes.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
