Notes: Produced by Quinta do Vale Meão for Selfridges, the name—which apparently comes from Henry Whytingham, a 17th Century shipper—is possibly just branding. Deep red in the centre fading to quite light red around the rim. The nose is light but attractive. A little red fruit and some toffee. In the mouth, not a great deal of fruit; a reasonable quantity of very gentle tannins; and moderate acidity. However, the aftertaste is long and attractive with fresh cherries predominating. Although neither mature nor tired, it feels rather quick maturing. Unfortunately, though, I’m afraid that whilst there isn’t anything particularly wrong with this Port, I just don’t find it particularly enjoyable. I think it is not easy drinking enough nor of impressive complexity.
