2018 Burmester Arnozelo

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A very different style from the Kopke Sao Luiz. This wine shows beautiful sweet redcurrant on the nose. Powerful acidity on the palate promises a very long life. Gentle tannins in the sour blackcurrant fruit; nice floral undertones. Lots and lots of acidity. This is a much more elegant style of wine which has the acidity to age for many decades. This wine highlights elegance over fruit, but is a very fine wine which is simply wonderful to drink right now. 90-92/100. (Tasted over 5 days to allow the wine to develop and show its full structure.)
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
