2005 Churchill LBV
A half bottle bought direct from Churchill's during lockdown in 2020. The bottling date was not stated on the label.Deep brick red, opaque. A delicious nose of blackcurrant cordial, sweet, fruity and with lovely floral overtones. Nicely poised palate with generous levels of blackcurrant dominating intially, but patience on the palate allows the tannins and acidity to reveal themselves. The acidity in particular shows this wine is capable of aging further, but the taiins in the wine just empahsise this. The freshness on the palate from the acidity in the fruit flows very nicely onto the aftertaste and long blackcurrant finish. This is an LBV which will benefit from a further 5 years in the cellar. 87/100. Drunk 11-Jul-20 with no decanting time.
