2018 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A snapshot tasting from a small sample bottle. Deep dark black-red with a purple rim. Fresh fruit salad nose, wonderfully fragrant and perfumed. Ripe fruit on entry with a huge backbone of acidity and fine-grained tannins. The fruit is persistent and beautifully merged with floral perfume. The structure is exquisite giving a big wine which is beautifully balanced. The sweet fruit leads on the aftertaste, which delivers smooth and gentle sweet fruit with a long blackcurrant pastille finish. Noval have delivered a delicious, balanced and immensely tasty Port this vintage with fabulous elegance. 93-95/100. Tasted 18-Jun-20.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
