1995 Taylor Vargellas

Post by winesecretary »

Half bottle. 60% opaque. Fairly spirity when first popped and decanted and not a great pleasure to drink. Dramatic amounts of sediment. After 72 hours in a decanter in the fridge, almond and cherry blossom on the nose (really!). Morello cherry jam and later rosehip syrup on the palate. Warm but not hot finish, with a pinch of white pepper. Admirable and well-balanced port at the drier end of the scale. It is a minor wine, but that is observation rather than criticism. At least in half, this is just in its prime drinking window, but do decant for an extended period. Consumed 25/03/20 and 28/03/20.
