2000 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red with a touch of scarlet still in the tone; narrow rim. Sweet black cherry and esteva on the nose. A little hollow on the entry, very slow and reluctant to reveal its fruit but the acidity is big and very forward and the wine has a lovely velvety texture. Air encourages the fruit to emerge but this wine is still very closed on the palate. There are plenty of tannins, fine-grained and delicioulsy toasted. A nice warmth spreads from the aftertaste while the sweet cherry finally starts to show on the amazing finish. 89/100. Drunk 29-Feb-20. Decanting time N/K.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
