2007 Marks and Spencer

Post by rich_n »

Decanted 6 hours (Christmas Eve). Deep coloured, almost purple. Very spirit heavy nose, more so than the last bottle I opened. A little red fruit alongside that but mostly masked. Very heavy spirit on the palate with a lot of pepper heat, some dark chocolate and a mineral element. There's some plum and dark fruit in there, but currently very hidden, hopefully this will reveal itself tomorrow! Some eucalyptus on the finish, which is modest but not completely absent. Ok, potential to be very good.

24 hours later (post Christmas dinner)... The spirit element is now not nearly so dominant but the fruit has also faded a little. More red berries than plum, there is plenty of pepper and spice on the palate with some vanilla, chocolate and liquorice on the finish, which is sadly not very long. Much better, now rather good.
