1987 Taylor Vargellas

Post by CPR 1 »

Drunk at the B&F on the 26th Sep. This was delicious with a great freshness and precision that I don't often associate with the 80's. Good balance and mouth feel with lots of pepper, drinking beautifully now based on this bottle but will get better.

MPM guessed an Gm 87 - which was not far off

50% opacity, ruby red. Concentrated sugar and spice nose. Smooth entry, spice & pepper, rich mouthfeel, some dryness. Nice port!

After some hints from Charles (only had this once before), I settled on a guess of 1987, given the colour of the port. Considering my note mentioning spice and pepper, quite how I chose GM as my guess rather than TV, I'll never know!
