A recent auction acquisition with a mid shoulder fill and a slightly raised cork, so condemned to early opening. Pleasingly little loose sediment on decanting (for 1 hr before starting to drink). A gorgeous garnet colour, 30% opaque. Rich fruit nose, principally poached strawberries. More sweetened poached fruit on the palate, with some soft red liquorice, and a pleasing mocha note on the finish. Smooth as silk throughout. Lovely, complex, wine; dispatched in a couple of hours between two people; every sip a pleasure. Consumed 09/08/19.
