2011 Dalva

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled under the Presidential label. Deep red in colour, opaque. Nosing of powerful blackcurrant fruit and rock rose perfume, big and pronounced. Lots of deep and rich fruit on the palate, sweet yet with enormous levels of acidity. Lots of tannins show on the mid- and late palate and the acidity rises to searing levels that bring tears to the eyes! A big burst of rock rose perfume on the palate, settling into a deep bitter-sweet dark chocolate and black cherry; great length. All the components for a long lived Port are here, very well balanced and wonderfully harmonious but actually very enjoyable to drink now! 91/100. 16-Apr-19.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
